Blogmas Day 2 - The 2013 Christmas Tag!

So my lovely friend Steff from Stephanie Maverick tagged me in this way back in November but I
decided I would do this for my first post of Blogmas! I will be scheduling posts seeing as I'm so busy over this time of the year!

1.  Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?
In my house we kind of have a real and a synthetic - in my room I have a slimline 6ft synthetic tree which I put up on the 1st November (I don't care what anyone thinks - I just love Christmas so much!!). However, downstairs we have a real tree because my dad always insists on having a real tree. This year we have got to decide whether we are going to get a real one because of the puppy - but its likely we will still have one!

2.  You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick?
Hmm - I'm currently really loving the Chocolate & Orange Mocha Latte at Costa from the Autumn (I go to costa pretty much every day when I'm at college!)

3.  Whats your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
I used to be very different to my mum I always used to have just white decorations with crystal white lights and white doves but I've now kind of grown up over the years and become more traditional, much like my mum. My mum decorates our tree very rich as we believe more is less on the tree as we always get a 6ft tall tree which is very wide and bushy! This year my colour scheme for my tree is Red, Green, Gold and White.

4.  Giving or receiving?
I absolutely love giving presents no doubt about it - I do need to start making my presents for close friends and putting their bags together!

5.  To mince pie or not to?
I had my first mince pie around mid October already - I adore mince pies and I need to make some in December for my family!

6.  What's your traditional Sunday lunch?
We kind of have a huge table full of food for Christmas, our traditional Sunday lunch we have is very boring so I'll tell you about my families Christmas dinner instead - ready for the list?...: Turkey, Ham, Pigs in Blankets (Sausages wrapped in bacon), roasted Chestnuts, Sprouts, French Beans, Peas, Carrots, sweetcorn, Roasted potatoes, mash potato, homemade Yorkshire puddings, bread sauce, gravy (2 different gravy's) and a few other things too... We are fatties at Christmas.

7.  Christmas day fashion
Every year my mum makes me buy a new dress for Christmas - I have no say whether its a dress or not. I haven't actually got my dress yet, I haven't really seen one I've fallen in love with. We all dress up really smart and in nice clothes but this year I'm debating whether to just re-wear a new dress because of Alice as she keeps putting her muddy paws all over me and my clothes.

8.  What's your favourite Christmas song?
I have a favourite Album at the moment and that's Alexander Rybak's 'Christmas Tales' album - it had such beautiful covers on it as well. He is probably my favourite violinist - ever.

9.  What's your favourite Christmas film?
I watch around 30 christmas films per year staring on the 1st November - but my favourite Christmas film has to be ROBBIE THE REINDEER!!!!!!!

10.  Open presents before or after lunch?
Me and my mum believe Christmas is for children so we always open our presents first thing in the morning because when we were younger it meant we had all day to play with our presents until Christmas dinner at 5pm (we have our dinner in the evening so we go to bed all sleepy and our afternoon isn't wasted as we always play a family game!).

Oh this is getting me SOOOO excited for Christmas!! Not long - ONLY 23 DAYS!

Lots of Love

Payday Wishlist!

As many of you know, I am currently on my summer holiday from work and college! I do however still get paid... On a minimum wage for being on call and also just to tie me over! I am only getting £200 this month, so I must spend it wisely! However, there are still some things I can buy! (I also hit over 6000 views yesterday, fabulous news!).

I know I will definitely be purchasing the Lindy Bop dress and Cary Jane shoes (and probably the 2 nail polishes) but the other 2 items I may wait to get at a later date, seeing as I'm going back to college in just over 4 weeks (ahh scary!! I just hope I make some friends and no one thinks I'm weird!!)

Anyway, just a quick post today, and look forward to my post on friday which is all about my Bathroom Essentials and what I think are some absolute must haves and what are my favourites!

I've also felt really lyrical this week and yesterday I had a fantastic little jam with my fans when we had a meet up so they could meet us (my band) as people instead of just watching us on stage, and my favourite song we sang in acoustic was probably Imelda May's song 'End of the World' - I can seriously relate to this song right now, especially through this emotional mess I'm in, writing a goodbye letter and also because its just so beautiful!

Much love

I know its my second post today, but I'm making up for not posting yesterday, as I just didn't have the time! So here are all the pictures I took yesterday, I do hope you enjoy them! I think the best moment of the day was having a picture with the Jive Aces!!

Sunday, was an absolutely amazing day! I had my best friend, some amazing music, dancing, and lots of giggles! We had the most amazing homemade slushie drinks, which were divine! Best Day ever?! Definitely a strong contender!

Weekly Update; 14th July

In my new Lindy Bop 'Elmira'
wiggle dress
Good sunny and hot day to you! I just looked at my thermometer and its 34.3'c outside right now! Wow! Well as you know, it was my 18th birthday on Friday  and I have a picture post I have yet to upload to you, but I am also planning on doing a birthday haul video... Yes I am finally getting round to doing a video! I also had a suggestion from my lovely friend Stephanie from Stephanie Maverick to do a look book on all my rockabilly dresses! Which I thought was a fab idea, so I will also be doing that this week too at some point!

Today just consists of sitting around and relaxing, I am still slightly recovering from last night (it was good, but also very horrendous at the same time). I have also ended up buying a new Lindy Bop Dress (see below) - this dress was actually released on my birthday, it was meant to be! I also had to throw out my old petticoat yesterday because it has gone all flat and horrible and the material is ripped, so I've had to buy a new petticoat and also bought a load of hair flowers too!

The 'Carola' Lindy Bop
Halter Dress
Monday I've no idea what I have planned today, its probably nothing much apart from doing lots of paperwork and tidying the house. I'm also going to take down my birthday decorations and just sort my room out! I also need to put some money in my bank to buy a CD (Top Cats -Smashing to the Ground to be precise).

Tuesday I have boring old work and band practice. Work is from 9am-2pm and I have band practice from 4-6.30 then I have to come home and cook my dinner and go for a run with my dog!

Wednesday I'm at work as I have a meeting with my boss and I need to help start decorating the school for celebration day. My boss who is the headteacher of the school I work at, also does photography, just like me, so I'm going to help him set up the studio for photos on Friday!

Thursday I'm at... wait for it... Work. Whenever it gets near the end of term my hours at work tend to be spent more at work then at home, and I seem to get less sleep. I also have a spinal clinic appointment which tends to take around an hour and also a 6 month review... Oh yay! I then have to come home and go back to work to do scouts with my brother as they are short staffed this week, and need help sorting out lots of things for the jamboree in August!

Friday I have celebration day all day at my work, which means all the parents and carers come into the school and we have certificates and awards to give out in all the different departments, afterwards we have a fun afternoon with the photographic studio, music, games, ice cream van, picnic, farm animals, all sorts! My mum will more then likely want my brother and me to have pictures taken together, and its the one time I can really dress up at work instead of wearing no make-up and plain boring clothes!

Saturday I've no idea what I'm doing, but I might go out if I can find someone to go with me! Oh the joys of being a year older!

Well its a pretty busy week at work, but hey, not long till the Summer and I'm off for 5 weeks before going back to college and work!!

Don't forget to keep an eye out on my Youtube and for my first lookbook post!

Much Love

Quick Picture Post!

Seeing that my family have a tradition of always bringing the baby pictures out at birthday's, I thought I'd share some baby pictures of me when I was younger with you!

You can see by the pictures a smell fraction of my childhood, which comes to an end tomorrow. The first picture is off me at around 1-2 years old wearing a Blackpool FC shirt and hat with a skater skirt (Yup, I had real fashion back in them days!), the second picture, I'm 2, just going on 3, as this was before my brother was born, I am in fact crying in this picture (someone didn't have a nap that day...). The third picture is of me at my Aunt's house playing the piano, I was around 5 at this time, and thought that my artistic ability would flourish playing the piano while wearing roller blades... The fourth picture is me at my 6th birthday with a cake (we still taunt my mum with this cake), it was in fact meant to be a fairy, however we joke my mum call it the 'slutty fairy' as my mum did the make-up a little too heavy on the fairy's face! The fifth picture is of me back in around Year 3 at school, and typically at the Christmas plays, I was an angel, anyone can guess why... Cause of how blonde my hair was (and obviously because I looked so angelic).

Well I hope you enjoyed these few photos!

I will be doing a photo post of my day tomorrow, so watch out for that!!

OOTW: Summer Psychobilly Style

Its finally summer in the UK, and its feeling hot, hot, HOT! Which makes me super duper happy! I'm also super happy due to the fact that this morning I checked my overall blog views and I've hit over 4,000 views! Which for little old me, is absolutely fantastic and amazing! I wouldn't have got this far without any of you!

Back to the OOTW... Today's is a kind of relaxed look generally because, I have so many errands to do, running round the house, baking cupcakes, going into the loft, cleaning the house etc that its just a super simple look!

Black & White Psychobilly Peplum Top, Peacocks - £15

Black 3/4 length leggings, New Look - £6 (similar here)

Black Studded Creepers, New Look - £12 (sale) (similar here)

Pink Skullcandy Headphones, Argos - £34.99 (I've had these for 2 and a half years and still work perfectly!)

Marilyn Cat Eye Sunglasses, Wear it Again Sam - £5.99 (similar here)

Today I am in fact not wearing any make-up! Generally because I'm not going out anywhere special and I'm just doing jobs around the house and popping into the village I live in! To just even out my skin (because lets be honest no one has naturally perfect skin, and I also have spots), I put little bit of face powder on. I've also put my hair in a bun because its out the way and its much easier in this hot weather then having it down! To accessorise around the bun a bit, I put an elastic hair band round which has decorative flowers attached to just make it a little more girly, you can also fashion this with a bandanna if you prefer!
This Friday is also my birthday! I turn 18 years old, how exciting! I will also be doing a blog post about my birthday, on Saturday (or Sunday, if I don't have enough time on Saturday) I will try and take as many pictures as possible too!

I also just want to say, that next week I plan to film a video for my youtube channel (finally)! I also today, watched a video by my friend who I went to school with. You can see Sammie's video here, she's started an advice channel, and she's filmed the first episode, which I thought would be super helpful for any of you!

Much Love

Music - It Makes My World Go Round!

Today I was sat in the staff room with my colleague Lucy, when she asked me if I would do a blog post on some of the music I listen to, as she was intrigued! So here I shall post some links to my favourite Rockabilly/Rock'N'Roll singers and bands that I listen to, so you get a taste of my taste!

Imelda May is probably my heroin in Rockabilly! She was the first person I really got into Rocakbilly with, her voice is perfect and beautiful! I just wish I was this woman! Everything about her and her music is perfect! Below is the first song I ever listened to of Imelda's and that's 'Johnny Got a Boom Boom'.

Jerry Lee Lewis is one of the first male Rock'N'Roll men I ever listened to, the other being Elvis. Great Balls of Fire, ironically was the second song I actually heard, the first song I heard was Wild One, which honestly in a way I prefer, generally because if you ever ask anyone for a Jerry Lee song, they tend to say Great Balls of Fire and then the other songs! So here is 'Wild One'.

Elvis Presley probably the most iconic (not forgetting amazingly gorgeous) man of Rock and Roll. He is the King... and who doesn't love the the King?! If you haven't heard an Elvis song, then where have you been all this time?! I thought I'd share with you my favourite song right now which Elvis did, now I know that Brenda Lee originally did 'Always on my Mind' however, I adore Elvis' version, its so melancholy and emotive, and I love it very much!

The Stray Cats - you can't have rockabilly without The Stray Cats!! They revived the Rockabillu scene back in the 80's, and if it wasn't for them, Rockabilly wouldn't be really were it is now, without that key revival what would us Rockabillies do?! One of my favourite Stray Cats songs at the moment is Rock This Town, my band actually covered this at our gig in the Isle of Wight, and the crowd loved it, just as much as we do!

Bill Haley and His Comets were huge in the 50's. I love Shake Rattle & Roll! I won't ever forget actually listening to this in my English Class at college and silently rocking out to myself, and my teacher wondering what on earth I was doing!

Kat Men is formed of Darrell Higham (Imelda May's husband and lead guitarist), Al Gare (also Imelda May's double bassist) and Slim Jim Phantom from the Stray Cats. This band strives complete perfection to me! I recently got their new album 'The Kat Men Cometh' after seeing them on Jools Holland... again another perfect band!

The Playtones  are a swedish Rockabilly band, who participated in Melodifestivalen in 2011 with their song 'The King'. After seeing them perform on the show, I instantly fell in love with the Swedish Rockabilly Band. The band who used to be called 'Boppin' Steve and The Playtones' before 2008, and then changed to 'The Playtones'. I have to admit, I fan girl over this band a lot, and when they tweeted me on twitter (yes! Little old me!!) I completely died a little inside- and now they also follow me!!

Top Cats were another band that performed in Melodifestivalen but in 2012! They have been together since 2001, and I absolutely love this band (especially Jon Kleppenes, le fan girl) the first song I heard of theirs was Heartache, off their album Heartache/No More Heartache. (Jon Kleppenes in fact liked a photo of me on Instagram... lets just say, I was fan girling round the house and work for the 2 days after he liked that picture!). The song I am currently in deep love with is Baby Doll which was the song they used for Melodifestivalen... For me this song is the point of a view of a greaser boy meeting his perfect pin-up girl... His Baby Doll...

Knocksville is in fact a local band relatively near to were I live. I saw them live when they supported Big Boy Bloater at the Haunt in Brighton with my lovely friend Anja! I bought their album then, and ever since haven't stopped listening to them!

Well, these are only some of the people and bands I listen to. If I listed them all, we'd be here forever! These are some of the songs and bands that also inspire me to write, sing, and be confident with the way I am, whether people stare in the street, I am proud to say I'm a rockabilly, and I won't be changing for anyone!

Love and Hugs

PS - I also have a YouTube video which I'm editing all about my rockabilly dresses! So please keep a look out for it soon!

Its now only 2 weeks till my 18th birthday! Comment below if you'd like to see a wishlist post on my blog for what I want!
