"Emma, Where Were You?"...

Image, MUA & Post-Processing - Chris Barnham Studio
Its been a little while hasn't it my dears? I do hope you enjoyed my first post back on Wednesday with the outfit. I thought today I'd just do a little catch-up post, a bit of a lengthy one, just so I can contain some of the things I've done over my 2 month break and whats going to be changing on the blog for the near future.

So... lets get the boring yet vital bit out of the way. The blog is going to change a bit, nothing huge or anything, but I just want to not restrict myself. What I mean is I don't want the blog just to be known as a beauty blog, a lifestyle blog, or a fashion blog. I want my blog to be about me and what I enjoy. So I'm probably going to do some posts which are slightly more personal, what I might be doing, my ideas, just thoughts, book reviews, I may even just post a simple picture post without any writing. Like an inspiration board, a positivity board etc. I want the blog to reflect me as a single person, not just the things I'm interested in.

The schedule is also changing ever so slightly... Instead of an outfit post every week, I'll be doing them every 2 weeks... Due to some reasons in my personal life, which are explained below, I won't have time to document an outfit a week or do a lengthy post on a saturday each week, so I hope this is okay!

As you know, I also took a break from modelling, mainly because I felt a lot of stress, paranoia and my self-confidence slightly getting to me, and honestly, I needed the break, its given me time to brain storm, re-think where I want to take my modelling, what I want to achieve. I only had one shoot during this time and it was with my regular studio who I work with (Barnham Studio), and again it was a short shoot where we got some simple work done. (Images below from shoot)

Being Fancy
Well on the 6th September, I ended up going to a fancy ball. And by fancy I mean, really fancy. Pretty much all the people there were wealthy, posh and they were wearing designer dresses, I felt like bursting into tears like I wouldn't fit in or anything, but I had never been welcomed so beautifully into a community. Despite not being rich or particularly posh I managed to grasp onto how to become a real lady that evening with thanks to Oscar who accompanied me and taught me some etiquette. Due to the prestige of the event I wasn't allowed to take pictures of the place we went to or the event itself, as they had professional photographers and such, but as we drove up the drive (and yes, we had a posh car thanks to my chaperone who is a bit well off, we didn't get the bus! We went in a black Mercedes, although I don't know what type, I'm a bit dumb when it comes to cars) the mansion was lit up in the dark night sky, we arrived at around 9.30pm and I had never seen anything more beautiful in my life, I'm glad I went for a simple look for this event.

I was taught how to dance in a long formal dress, I was taught about classical music, as to which I now can't stop listening to (Pachelbel's Canon in D Major is definitely one of my favourites now!), I was taught all about the cutlery, how to eat properly, and a whole host of other things. And the best part was, the fact we had a very rich entrepreneur and his utterly gorgeous wife on our table, they helped me and spoke to me as if I were one of them. They even told me I'd be perfect to have a rich husband... still hope for me yet!

I kept my make-up super simple, and even opted to wear no eyeliner to try and be as natural as possible. I used 2 concealers, a tinted moisturiser, Collection Foundation for my face along with the Bourjois Rose D'Or blush. I stuck to a soft champagne and soft pink for my eye shadows to reminiscence elegance but to also just make my eyes pop a little, I used a light brown in the crease, and slightly blended out towards the outer eye for a small smoky effect. I just used a simple gold lip gloss on my lips. And I just used my Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara on my lashes. I wore tear-drop earrings, starting with pale blue crystals and the last pendant was black which then flowed perfectly into my dress with the blue responding to my blue eyes. For my hair I went for a back combed side bun, very elegant and very easy to do. This whole look was achieved in under an hour, all by me. Not bad if I say so myself!

I got a new job!

Remember I got really fed up with my old job, which had rubbish pay (and by rubbish I mean below minimum wage). I worked about 39/40 hours a week, despite my contract which they breached and my wage per annum was about £9,500 just below. However, now I have a new job at a place I'm really excited about working at! My wage after tax is about £13,800 pa - which is a HUGE increase!
I do have to become a real financial bore now though, seeing as I need to start saving for a deposit to move out, I need to start a pension fund for when I'm older etc. So, things are getting real, I'm finally an adult. I'm not really THAT excited about it, but we all have to grow up... I guess.

The Blog
Yes I finally gave the blog another make-over... I might even stay with this one... who knows! I hope you like it! I've gone for the white. black and red approach. I don't know why, the pink just bored me a bit I guess!

A-Level Results
So I got my English Language A-Level result in August. I wasn't hugely pleased with it, but I was never an exam person anyway, I did do really well in half the exam though and got an unexpected high score in it but the other seemed to be less great. Despite my slight (expected) disappointment - I've decided I still want to carry on writing and doing reviews and stuff like that! So I thought of also encorporating articles into this blog as well as more reviews, like film, books, and other things like CD's which may take of interest too. Let me know if that is something you'd be interested in, or anything you want me to do!

Well I think that's it, I'm doing a picture post of my holdiay soon and now planning posts to put up for you guys!!

OOTW & Review: Pretty Polly

We have a double whammy again today! I totally enjoyed reviewing the Stella Sweetheart Dress in this way that I've also decided to do it for this dress...

OOTW

White Bow Wedges, Simply Be - £20
(Discontinued)
Marilyn Cat Eye Sunglasses, Wear it Again Sam - £9.99

For my make-up I just did the signature rockabilly style with thin winged eyeliner, and a blue undertone red lipstick to make my pearly whites shine. For my eyeshadow I just used the Rimmel Glam'Eyes Mono Eyeshadow in "Glam Ice" for an ice white feel to my eyes for an extra pop in the summer sun!

Recently for my hair I've been totally loving the 60's beehive hairstyle; I'd never really tried it so I've just been experimenting with what works for my hair seeing as mine is growing out and is layered. I just matched the red bandanna for that extra rockabilly touch and just to help shape up the beehive a bit more.

Review

As I said above, I got this dress as a thank you gift. I'd been pining over it since Collectif actually released the images for this dress which is part of this years Spring/Summer Collection. I've been looking for a good shirt dress for a while that actually fits over my rather large bust area and Collectif never fail to make me smile... I actually went for a size 20, I normally go for a size 22 due to the chest area always being tight, but I gave the smaller size a shot; and I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well the fit was, with my bust measuring 44-46 depending on the cut I was in between an 18/20. You can either have the dress fully buttoned up, or if you want a slightly more rebel rockbilly feel have it on one of the lower buttons which shows more cleavage! You can either be preppy princess or rebel rockabilly!

The twirl test is probably my favourite thing about reviewing dresses! This dress does have a full circle skirt, however due to the different material it does twirl a bit differently, and actually I really like it! The skirt of the dress actually swings in more of a direction unlike my other circle skirt dresses which just follow your movement - the extra movement of the skirt gives an amazing dimension when walking down the street in heels as it helps to exaggerate your hip movements.

Overall I LOVE the polly dress, its definitely a summer must-have! If the weather does become cooler however you could match this with a bolero; I'd personally reccommend either the Gail Bolero in Cream or Jean Bolero in Ivory

The Polly dress is available in either in red gingham, red or black.

See you saturday for my next post my lovelies!

Simply Be Babydoll Review

In the last week of March I was searching around for some new lovely underwear (specifically babydoll's just because I love them and sleep in them!) and I came across this adorable one from Simply Be!

Simply Be Naturally Close Diamante Babydoll Set
£36.00 including matching knickers
The bust on the babydoll and the front triangle of the knickers are embroidered with this adorable black flower style pattern. The bra is under wired which is definitely something I'm finding comfortable for me at the moment. The top half is exactly like a bra (this one is padded and under wired) and the back strap is the same of a normal bra. For the actual babydoll, a soft mesh (and I mean super soft its so comfy!) is used with a split which ends on the inside cup of the bra and the back it drops into a keyhole gap on the back fasteners. The hem of the mesh on the babydoll is a satin material which adds to the overall comfort and style of this babydoll. And last but not least there is 2 bow detailings, one on the bum of the knickers, just a simple small black bow and 2 black ribbons on the front inbetween the cups which you can tie into a bow or just leave loose.

I got this in a 44 C/D cup, I was a little worried the cup may come up a little bigger then expected due to being a varied cup size but it fits quite nicely and I don't have to re-adjust myself that much.

I know some women like to wear this under clothes or just for their partner but I sleep in babydolls (I only really sleep in pyjamas when I'm poorly and ill and need to be snuggled) and this definitely was comfortable for me to sleep in!

One of my favourite things about this has to be the fact that the skirt of it doesn't cover my tummy. My biggest downfall and the part of my body I'm most critical of is my tummy, so its teaching me to love it!!

The material is rather see through, like the majority of babydoll's I own however this

Just a quick little update - after my lens broke back in October and I reverted to my little Nikon camera and iPhone for pictures I finally have a new lens coming to me to replace the one that couldn't be fixed! So hopefully soon my images will be of a better quality!!

New Years Resolution

As I said yesterday, this year I really want to make my life just a little more cherpy and cheerful. 2013 was just as horrendous as 2012, 2011 and 2010. I've finally decided I don't want my private life making my life feel so sad and emotional. I really want to be that person who is always happy and doesn't let any little thing get them down, not the person who has a smile on their face so everyone thinks they are okay.

Overall in my private life, relationships and such - 2012 and 2013 really were awful. I'm pretty much done with relationships and love for a while yet. I'm going to focus on the things that make me happy in life. My blogging, my fashion and now making lots of new things with my Sewing machine. Getting a sewing machine for Christmas really has made me decide I want to start making my own clothes - its a new lease of life. It could even turn into a business one day (wouldn't that be fantastic!).

I never usually have a motto but this year that's going to change alongside other things but here is my new motto...

"Happy clothes, makes a happy me - who can be sad when wearing happy beautiful clothes!"

I will stick to this! Sure, I will have a few moments, but now I won't have as many - I want to feel fantastic in myself, without people's criticism hurting me. I'm going to focus on blogging and modelling and being my typical ditsy self - but most of all I'm going to focus on being happy!
I've also adjusted my blogging schedule to try and fit round my new lifestyle routine with going down the gym and that. Two posts will go up each week

Wednesday will remain as OOTW'S
Saturday's will be a post about any topic!

So what's your new years resolution? Do you believe in them? Write in the comments below to tell me!

OOTW: New Year, New Me

First OOTW and post of 2014! Scary how quick 2014 has come around... its a little daunting to be quite honest with you. I thought I'd show you a dress I got in the end of summer sale at Rockabilly Pinup, it's another beautiful Hell Bunny dress and I absolutely love it! The meaning behind the title is that, yes ironic as it seems, I'm changing a little, to make myself happier; nobody else but myself. I've felt this past year my emotions and private life have really taken over and ruined the rest of my life, by making me sad and upset. Check out tomorrow's 'New Year Resolution' post for my new motto!

Hell Bunny Bobbi Lee Dress, Rockabilly Pinup - £38.99 (last in stock sale normally £44.99) (Can also buy here)

White Cardigan, Next - £8 (End of Summer Sale)

Cream Waist Belt, New Look - £5

Shiny Jewelled Heels, New Look - £5 (sale)

Pink Butterfly Clip, Beauxoxo - £6

For my hair I decided to do victory rolls - yes! I am really trying my absolute hardest at trying to face my fear of doing these. I'm never any good with fiddly hair styles but I'm slowly getting the hang of it! My makeup is pretty simple as always, black eyeliner with red and gold eyeshadow blended together along with my winter red lipstick from Rimmel in shade 107.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Oh my lordy, Christmas has been and gone and here we are on New Years Eve getting ready to Welcome in 2014! My family and me have a yearly tradition of listening to music, playing games such as Boggle and we always have a toast of Champagne at 12am!

We always have nibbles during the night so we tend not to have a big dinner, probably just a sandwich!

Well... Happy New Year and See you tomorrow for my first OOTW of 2014!!!!

Blogmas Day 7: Favourite Christmas Songs

I thought I'd share some of my favourite Christmas songs with you all! At the moment I have my 2 favourite Christmas Albums which are the compilation CD"The Best Christmas Album, in the world... ever!" and "Christmas Tales" by my favourite violinist Alexander Rybak... The first CD is actually my mums as she bought it before I was even born, and sadly this CD is beginning to show its age, but we are hopefully going to buy a new one (probably the same CD) soon! I know a few songs will be cover's of over songs, but to me they are still beautiful and they still have that meaning to them!
Below will be a list of links of my current favourite Christmas Songs, a short, sweet and relaxing post today!

Alexander Rybak - Silent Night

Elton John - Step into Christmas

(Hint - it's from the Grinch!) Jill Zadeh - Where Are You Christmas?

Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody

My ultimate favourite Christmas song in the whole entire world is Fairytale of New York - I cry everytime I listen to this. Everything about it...

Simple post today, but it gets us in the Christmas spirit!

18 Days till Christmas!

Blogmas Day 5: House Decorations

Today's post is probably quite similar to Tuesdays post in the fact its gonna be a tonne of pictures of what me and my mum have done decoration wise downstairs for the whole family!

This is the first view you get when you come down the stairs. So
many pretty lights!!!!!!

We put these red lights by the front windows and ice white on the
plant. Festive exotic plants!

This window has by far got to be my favourite. Our little gingerbread family!
The warm white lights just make it so magical!

The ceiling to floor entrance window all jazzed up with some snowflake window stickers
these are on all the windows downstairs & ice white lights!

My mum has always wanted nutcrackers - because of having not many decorations
in the kitchen (Safety and all) we have these on the windowsill.

Aren't these adorable and so vintage?! Bought these 7 years ago
and still look fantastic!

My little elf, robin and tree display by the hi-fi and CD/DVD storage. Too adorable!

By the front window we have this gorgeous lit up and rotating Christmas tree -
This is 9 years old and is still works perfectly!

My mum bought this St.Nick 13 years ago from BHS - we both love him so much!
I know it was another picture post, but I just thought it'd be lovely to share! Also we are getting out tree this weekend which means at some point I will do a post on that Christmas tree maybe. The tree is going to be in the middle of the 5 bi-folding doors and my mum and myself will be decorating it!

20 Days till Christmas!

Coco kisses and cuddly hugs!

Strange and New Proposals!

Sorry for the super duper late post, and I will still be posting my OOTW tomorrow, so don't panic! However this evening, I was asked by someone, if I was going to be selling any of my photo shoot pictures. Never in my life had it occurred to me that people would actually be interested in buying photo shoot pictures! I've tipped my nose into a little bit of modelling and recently have been doing paid shoots, but I never thought that people would want to buy pictures of me, ME!

I am looking into doing small 6" x 4" photo's (normal size), small posters, and large posters! I will probably be printing these via the company Photobox, unless I find another company who does it cheaper and for the same quality! They will all be in a gloss finish. I need to figure out the pricing yet and decide on the photo's that will be up for sale, and I will probably advertise them through a shop on my blog, as this will be the easiest way for people to buy/order them off me!

In the coming few weeks, I am working a lot, and I currently only have 1 shoot, possibly 2 booked in for (busy little bee I am) and I will post on here the final photos which will be sold. You will also be able to buy a selection pack of either: -

  • 1 (30"x20") Poster and 6 (6"x4") photo's
  • 10 (6"x4") and 1 (21"x16") poster
  • 2 (30"x20") posters and 6 (6"x4") photos.
I will also be having other offers coming up as well, and the posters I will also sign, because its always a nice little personal touch I think!

I will keep you all updated on my new little adventure, and maybe one day, I may be one of those well known pin-up girls?

Well a girl can dream can't she!

Lets Start YouTube!

You are probably thinking 'this is Emma's second post today... what's going on?!'. Let me explain!

I had the snap decision today (for some very strange reason) to do a YouTube channel in relation to my blog! I had some ideas for some tags and product reviews which I can post on here as well as on YouTube, lets say, broadening the empire?

So please give it a little look, this is just the little Welcome message to my channel, but there will be more bits and bobs to come!

Budget Beauty! - Dirty Works!

I was in my local Sainsbury's just browsing around, headphones in just listening to Katmen, as per usual, and I went down the personal care section and found yet another vintage looking beauty product... Dirty Works! This company are much like Soap and Glory but for those of us who are rather broke and have no money Dirty Works are a cheaper version! Fab!

I bought the Body Wash, Body Scrub and Body Spray, as I'm running low on shower stuff anyway as I've been using my 'Along Came Betty' collection which I got for Christmas! (Which I may add is also very cheap and just as good as S&G!!) However I used these products for the second time today, and by god does it make you feel super refreshed and clean! I completely super adore the scent of all these products! I have already gone and purchased my second body spray cause I know I will use a lot of it! 'Dirty Works' have a whole range of products which I know I will be buying! As far as I know you can only buy these in Sainsbury's shopping store, but if I do find these anywhere else I will be sure to let you know, on here or via my personal twitter account!

You can buy;

The Scensational Body Spray for £1.99
The All of a Lather Body Wash for £2.99
The Buff Your Stuff Body Scrub for £3.99

Much Love you gorgeous bunch!

Hair-Care Update!

Being super cheeky today, I am blogging at work!! (Best be sneaky!) So... If you have been following my blog updates on my hair growth and hair care then you would know that I have been using the Lee Stafford Hair Growth treatment products, I had a ritual for while I was growing my hair. I vowed I wouldn't use any heat products on my hair i.e Straighteners, hair dryer, curlers etc, and this already improved the condition of my hair straight away. I used the Lee Stafford products every time I washed my hair, it made my hair feel and look so much better, as it was super brittle and horrible!

TIMES HAVE CHANGED...

I have now stopped using the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment as I have now reached my desired hair length (just below my shoulders  its not too long and not too short, and still easy to tie up!) and now I am onto retaining and maintaining my natural blonde hair! I often have many urges to experiment my hair with semi-permanent dyes, but this can also really damage your hair condition but as well as the pigment of your hair, especially with blonde hair like mine! I found that once I had dyed my hair electric blue back in December, I was left with a pale pigmented blue tone on the top layer of my hair, and slowly began to get annoyed with the colour of my hair! So I began experimenting...

I first began to decide to bleach my hair, yes I was going to strip my hair of the horrible tone my hair had gone... BUT, I spoke to my hairdresser and she absolutely refused to put bleach anywhere near my hair as it would take away my natural light blonde hair! So we had a chat about what I could do... We made a shampoo mix for my hair to a) maintain a good healthy condition and b) remove the top layer of blue tone on my hair. What did we use? We used a mixture of ; Johnson's Baby Camomile Shampoo & Conditioner (yes we used the conditioner in the shampoo!), John Frieda Sheer Blonde Shampoo, and Lemon Juice. Lemon Juice and Camomile are natural ingredients used to strip your hair, without the effect and damages of bleach! Yes it has taken a while, and I am no longer use my shampoo 'potion' for my hair, but now using the John Frieda Sheer Blonde 'Go Blonder' range products. The the shampoo and conditioner are a thick yellow substance, and have a beautiful smell! I always use more then the recommended amount I usually use a large
handful of both for my hair, and massage the products thoroughly into my hair and onto my scalp. I wash the products out of my hair with Cold water and this gives your have a nice sheen look once dried. I find with using these lovely products is that your hair, just like the Lee Stafford products give your hair a lovely silky feel! I love my hair feeling good! Again, with the Go Blonder Products there is no bleach contained in the products, so again no risk of damaging your hair! Fantastic!! I have noticed my hair slowly going back to its normal colour, still a long way to go but its getting there slowly!
I originally bought the Go Blonder Products from Boots at £4 each (£8 in total) but I made the magic discovery that Amazon does a monthly scheduled delivery and it turned out cheaper! I now get 2 bottles of Shampoo and Conditioner every month for an amazing £3.60 a bottle, in total adding up to £14.40, and for the same amount (2 shampoo's and 2 conditioners) from Boots was £16 and Waitrose was an astonishing £28 for the 4 bottles! So if you are like me and cannot resist a free bargain, and your products delivered to your door, then Subscribe upto the Amazon deal!

Much Love and I shall be catching up on my blogging as I have a big haul coming up in the next week or sol!

The Fringe...

Just before the locks were copped!
Good Evening from a blizzard like UK! The snow has just not stopped coming down! Meanwhile I bare some good beauty news! I finally got the courage to get my hair re-styled into a sophisticated... Yes, you have read right, sophisticated bob! The image on the left was taken just before I had my haircut by my fantastic hairdresser Laura, in the image I am wearing a beautiful Oversized Pink Gingham Rockabilly Bow from Beauxoxo which I absolutely adore!!

All Change!

The image on the right shows my hair after it has just been beautifully styled! I decided I would go for some 'bangs' - yes this is actually the technical term! I absolutely love my new hairstyle and I hope you do too! I didn't actually have any length taken off my hair, just the split ends out, and my layers re-done, as well as my fringe being cut in!

I hope all you beauties are well, and stay beautiful!

Love and Hugs

Emma
